Frequently asked questions

Core Speech and Language have an open referral policy. Parents or carers can contact us directly for therapy. You do not need a GP referral or anything similar. If your child is known to the NHS, we recommend that you let us know so we can liaise with the NHS Therapist.

At Core Speech and Language, we will see any child that a parent /carer has concerns about, if we feel we will have a positive impact on their speech and language.

There may also be a number of reasons why you think independent therapy is for you:

  • You have a long wait for therapy,
  • You feel that additional sessions would be beneficial to your child.
  • You may wish to by-pass the NHS completely to get a quicker review and treatment plan in place

SLTA are highly skilled practitioners who are able to deliver speech therapy sessions using objectives put in place by a Speech Therapist. This is happening in the NHS and the Royal College of SLT support the use of Assistants.  The fees that we charge mean that the overall therapy will be much more cost effective.

Core Speech and Language will discuss with you what your child needs. All blocks of therapy will be tailor made for your child. We will also let you know when we believe your child no longer needs therapy, or if our sessions would not have a positive impact on their speech and language

Together we will choose the most appropriate setting for your child. This may be in your home or in their educational setting.
