Carolyn Core Speech And Language Therapy

I set up Core Speech and Language to bridge the gap between the NHS therapy presently on offer and private therapy delivered solely by independent Speech and Language Therapists.

Core Speech and Language is a new alternative and complementary Speech and Language service that gives you more choice and flexible access to therapy for your child. It provides support that meets your child’s needs, without waiting lists, or the higher costs of a therapist-only service.

My own career has always been based around working with children. I started in Early Years Education and then progressed into Speech and Language Therapy. For the last 25 years, I have worked in the NHS as a Speech and Language Therapy Assistant.

Having raised my own family of three children, I wanted to fulfil my ambition of providing excellent support for children with (SLCN) Speech Language and Communication needs in the independent sector.

Within my 25-year NHS career, I have worked with children of all ages from nursery to secondary school, and have supported children who present with SLCN including speech sound difficulties, language delay and other disorders.

I have always enjoyed the time spent in therapy sessions with children. No two sessions are the same and it is a privilege to be involved in their core development.

The Core Speech and Therapy team have many combined years of experience in the public sector. We are all enthusiastic about being able to offer you and your child alternative, tailored core therapy packages, which capitalise on our skills.

If you want to find out more about our services and have an informal chat about how Core Speech and Therapy could help your child, please fill in the enquiry form or call on ……..Our aim is to respond to you within two working days.

Caroline R

I am a Speech and Language Therapy assistant. I have worked with children and families in a variety of roles over the last 23 years.

This has included being a Nanny, a Nursery Manager, a Primary Tutor and most recently a Communication Champion within a school setting. I have always had a passion for working to help children reach their full potential and I believe early intervention is the best way to achieve this.

I have gained much knowledge and best practice from my ELKLAN training and from working alongside Speech and Language Therapists and Assistants.

I ensure that I build strong trusting relationships with all the children and families I work with and that I create resources that are around your child’s interests to motivate their learning

Dani Core Speech And Language Therapy

Dani

I am a student Speech and Language Therapist, currently studying for my Master’s degree. Having completed the 3rd year of my BSc in Speech and Language Therapy at City, University of London, I decided to undertake a 4th year to gain my Masters. This enables me to specialise, do some in-depth study, complete research and gain some additional experience – all to help me help your child as best I can.

I can now work as a student SLT (under the supervision of a registered SLT) bringing together my experience as an SLTA and knowledge from my undergraduate course to deliver the best outcomes for your child. I worked for the NHS for 4 years and was a secondary school Teaching Assistant for 2 years before that. I have also worked as a Youth Worker. I’ve worked in mainstream and special schools, clinics, family centres and clients’ homes.

As well as studying and working, I’m Mum to an energetic and enthusiastic 7-year-old and can be found creating elaborate car and train tracks, bug hunting or playing outside.

I’m really passionate about making Speech and Language Therapy fun. Children learn best when they’re enjoying themselves and feel safe and secure. To achieve this, I’m keen to find out what your child loves doing and then I try to tailor my sessions to build on and incorporate those interests. I love making bright motivating resources and making sessions active.

I’m also trained to deliver Speech and Language Support Training to parents and professionals via the Elklan Let’s Talk to Under 5s and 5-11s, so if this is something you might be interested in, please get in touch.

BSc (Hons) MRCSLT HCPC registered

I qualified, as a Speech and Language Therapist in 2011 from the University College of London. Prior to this, I worked as a Speech and Language Therapy Assistant. I have worked in a variety of settings including clinics, family homes, children’s centres, pre-schools and mainstream schools within the NHS system. Through this work I have developed my knowledge and experience of working with children with a wide range of speech, language and communication needs (SLCN) and have worked together with agencies and other health professionals, including pediatricians, health visitors and school staff.

I pride myself in the ability to build a strong rapport with the children and families I work with. Ensuring that parents are involved throughout the assessment and therapy process so that they can continue to support their child at home. I tailor and adapts the assessment sessions to the individual need of the child to engage and motivate them.

I have a vast experience of assessing pre-school children (0-5 yrs.) and primary and secondary age children with:

  • Speech sound difficulties/disorder
  • Language difficulties/disorders

I work closely with Speech and Language Therapy Assistants (SLTA) on a regular basis within the NHS system. Assessing the children and then providing a written program with set targets and activities for the assistant to work towards with the child. I then review the child when their targets have been achieved.  I will be in close liaison with the SLTA and be available to discuss any queries or support they need. I will review the child, when the SLTA feels that they have achieved their targets. This varies with each child depending on their progress but usually every 6-12 weeks.

Maggie Core Speech And Language Therapy

Maggie

I am a Speech and Language Therapy Assistant who has been working in the NHS for the past 9 years in Hertfordshire. I have worked in Children’s Centres, mainstream primary and secondary schools and clinics. I have supported and run groups with pre-school babies and children encouraging early communication skills and worked 1:1 with children of all ages from pre-school to teenagers who are experiencing difficulties including speech sound difficulties, language delay and dyspraxia.

I love working 1:1 with a child and helping them to overcome their speech and language issues. I enjoy building up a rapport with each child, working hard to achieve the objectives set for them while also having fun. I make sure my sessions are enjoyable and with years of experience and many resources up my sleeve, I can adapt sessions to encourage and engage each child.

I also enjoy working with parents, nursery and school staff to support them in delivering the therapy when I am not there. I am able to give clear advice, model therapy and leave appropriate resources to empower whoever is working with the child and can respond with ideas if needs change or more explanation or inspiration is needed.

I am used to working to objectives set by Speech and Language Therapists and to maintaining the high level of professionalism expected in the NHS. I always work closely with therapists to make sure objectives are adhered to and to liaise with them when therapy needs to be stepped up or down, or when a review is required.

Laura

I graduated with a PgDip in Speech and Language Therapy from City University. Since then, I have developed a special clinical interest in working with children and young people that have stammers and have had experience of working as part of a Dysfluency/Stammering Service within the

I am able to offer Palin PCI and/or Lidcombe therapy for younger children that stammer. I am also trained in a number of approaches for supporting older children/adolescents who stammer. Please do get in touch if I could be of any help!
